Review from Godset in Kolding and Industrien in Aarup march 2010.

Finally it was time for some Oysterband gigs in Denmark again and the first for me on this tour was at Godset in Kolding.

Godset:
Just when we thought the winter was over, a snowstorm hit Denmark the same day as we were going to Kolding to see Oysterband. 5 of us in a car and luckily we took the old road, because the as it later showed people who had taken the highway didn’t get in to the concert because of the weather.

After an hour of driving we got to the venue, normally it only takes 25 minutes, but we got there and were ready for the Oysterbands first performance at this venue.
Godset is a nice venue and there is room for about 700 people standing and 250 seated. On each side of the stage there’s video screens showing the band on stage.
My guess would be about 150 – 200 made it through the snow for the concert.

Oysterband started up with When I’m up and after the first song JJ talked about the weather and how they got smstext from friends who was stocked in the snow on the highway and thanked all in the venue for showing up despite the weather outside.

The concert was good and the sound was really great, and I was very surprised that the audience sang along with most of the songs, since this was the first time they played in Kolding. Seems that Oysterband has a lot of hardcore fans in Denmark.

For the last song Put out the lights, the band came down from the stage and played it acoustic between the audience on the floor.

Industrien.
A venue in a really small town with 2992 citizens and not a fulltime venue. Beside concerts it’s also an cinema which make it very difficult to make a good sound.
In the first set I could hear most from the left speaker and the drumsound came from the stage, but Mike the soundman made it better for the second set and delivered a descent sound.
Despite the venue was on the countryside of Fyn, the turn up was good and it was almost sold out, nice going for a small town venue.

Sadly Ian took a fall when they were leaving the stage and later on as you can read on the Oysterband Myspace site, he really hurt himself.
